I am getting a Shetland pony soon for my farm. Here are my questions:
Do they prefer another one for company if so which genders would get along?
Are they friendly with ducks, goats and sheep?
Can they drink from the dam?
What is their diet?

it depends on the horses personality if they like company like my horse she hates other horses with her but my friends loves so it depends ask the buyer and if they say they are good with other horses and wants some company a goat or asheep are a good idear if you dont want to but another horse but again it depends what they are likebut try it … you can telll if a horse is lonly most of the time. horses can drink out of dams but also get a LARG bucket or a troff or maybe even an old bath or anything with clan water and when you first get your horse show him/her the water (like lead him/her over) but my horse didnt realy like thetroff at the start but she bagan to get thursty and every day i would go down there and lead her to the troff now she loves it but she also drinks out of the dam but make sure you kepp felling up her CLEAN water sorce because horses should be drinking clan water and if your horse seems sick i would make sure she doent drink the dam water.

the feed depends on if your exerciseng her
if not- justa small biscut of lucin morning and maybe night but in training like i bigger biscut of lucinand it depoendent on the training maybe oats so i hope this helps… sorry about spelling (:
